CONTROLLING THE DETAILS WITH PROJECT 98
Reliably organize and keep track of projects at all
levels of complexity with Microsoft Project 98. Familiar views and
icons are now expanded to help you keep track of each important detail of
your project.
|

|
View Bar
The innovative View Bar displays icons that represent popular project
views, and the new Task Usage View and Resource Usage View provide
time-scale grids that help you schedule and monitor planned work,
actual work, and cost information. In addition, you can monitor resource
allocation, and even create your own custom view to meet your specific
planning needs. |
Indicators
Now you can save important project details or notes you've made to yourself
as icons in the new Indicator field to jog your memory and keep you on
track. You can also add hyperlinks in the Indicator field for quick connection
to important plans, analyses, or Web sites created in software packages
other than Microsoft Project 98, without leaving your project.
Multiple Projects
Create hierarchies among projects, link across projects, and get more
control over projects with large numbers of tasks by combining two or
more projects to make a consolidated project.
 |
Task Splitting
The Microsoft Project 98
Task Splitting feature helps remedy real-world delays in project scheduling.
Whether it's employee illness or vacation, or a late materials delivery,
Task Splitting lets you make those changes quickly and easily. |
COMMUNICATING THE PLAN
Using Microsoft
Project 98, you can communicate important project information to
every member of your team, including people on different computer systems
such as Macintosh. Assignments can be made and accepted using a MAPI-compliant
e-mail system, your organization's intranet, or the World Wide Web.
Team Management
With the TeamAssign feature, project managers alert team members to their
assignments by e-mail, intranet, or Internet, where they can accept, decline,
or comment on tasks. Then, using the TeamStatus feature, team members
can provide their project managers with day-by-day or week-by-week updates.
Finally, with a single click of the mouse, TeamUpdate lets you communicate
your changes to team members, who can then respond concerning any issues
that may result from the change.
Publish and Share
Publish your project plans for others to view. MS
Project 98 provides a wealth of
tools, such as the Report Gallery, with a variety of predefined, text-based
reports. You can customize and
print any of the project views to meet specific reporting requirements,
and communicate your plans over the Internet or your company's network.
Save as HTML in Microsoft
Project 98
Easily post your plans and schedules directly to your intranet site or
the Web with HTML templates and Import/Export Maps. You can select which
project data to include, and then add backgrounds and colors from preformatted
HTML templates, and include snapshots of your Gantt charts.
